I know none of us want to, but pretty soon it’s going to be time to start thinking about fall. Back to school shopping, colder weather (unfortunately!), and the daunting thought of schoolwork. Going back to school can be a stressful process, especially if you’re starting a new school. Some people want to change their style; others just want a few updates to their wardrobe. These styles below are a sneak preview of the kinds of things my friends and I are going to be wearing this school year!
Baggy, Knitted Sweaters
A huge trend for this fall is baggy and knitted sweaters. The shape of these tops goes perfectly paired with skinny jeans, shorts, and even skirts. They are one of my favorite fall essentials because they can be paired with so many different things. Not only are they cute, they’re also comfy! Even if you don’t feel like dressing up that day, you can still look cute and be comfortable. A great way to style them is with colored or printed jeans/shorts. A basic, neutral colored knit will go great with a crazy pattern. Or you can pair a more colorful sweater with patterned pants for a more dramatic look.
Collared shirts are definitely a must-have for the coming fall season. They look great under knit sweaters or just on their own. Some collared shirts have details on the collar. These details can include studs, beads, sequins, etc. I love collared shirts because you can pair them with so many things and they still look great. They will give you that effortlessly stylish vibe.
I love colored jeans! They add so much fun to every outfit. You can pair them with almost anything. They are the perfect thing to add a pop of color to a plain shirt. You can wear a neutral colored shirt with a bright pair of jeans, or you can add even more color by trying color blocking, which is when you wear a colorful shirt with a colorful pair of jeans. When you do this, find two colors that complement each other well, and try to find a solid colored shirt because a patterned shirt can be overwhelming on bright jeans. I also love patterned jeans. Floral is the most common pattern for jeans. Pair them with a solid color top and minimal accessories, as these jeans are the statement piece in your outfit.
Boots have always been a popular fall trend. Whether you like the classic equestrian style or a more edgy biker boot, there is a style for almost everyone. I personally like both the equestrian, and biker boot style. A classic pair of riding boots can add a cute, classic vibe to any outfit, while an edgier pair of boots can give you a fiercer look. Equestrian style boots look great paired with skinny jeans and an oversized knit sweater. Biker boots look great with skinny jeans, or a cute skirt and an edgy top.
Hello everyone, it’s Fiona here! Well, as you can see, I paired a cream lace pencil skirt with a black lace tank. You may be thinking too much lace, right? That’s why I paired them with black fringed gold studded moccasin-styled sandals to balance it all out. I used a candy hot pink nail polish which i thought would pop out from all the black and white. I didn’t wear many accessories except for a gold charm bracelet which matched the gold studs on the sandals. It ended up being a great outfit for a hot summer day full of shopping in the city. I hope this inspires all of you fashionistas out there! Ta Ta for now ❤
MY SUMMER SKINCARE ROUTINE
In the summertime, I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup. In the heat my makeup (particularly face) likes to slide off. Also, in the summertime I love to swim so wearing a full face of makeup is not very smart because I have to take it off anyway and I want to enjoy my summer and not spend the time doing my makeup in the morning. Because of this, in the summertime I like to have nice, glowing skin. To achieve this I follow a light skincare routine. Here it is!
Also, I have normal to oily skin. I am prone to blemishes (not acne), but this skincare routine keeps my skin really clear!
When I get up I put in my contacts, then immediately go to my bathroom sink or take a shower. Here I wash my face with my clean and clear morning burst cleanser. I love this cleanser because it makes my face feel really clean and wakes me up with its fruity scent! (Shhh… I’ve found that even though it says “Morning Burst” you can use it at night too!) After I’ve done this I use my lush tea tree water as a toner. This is fantastic because it works to calm any inflammation in my skin. Then, I will apply my Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel. I absolutely love this because it keeps my skin moisturized without making it greasy. Because it is a gel it applies very lightly and gives me a glow to my skin. Tip: it seems counter-intuitive to use a moisturizer if you have oily skin, but it actually decreases your skins oil production because a good moisturizer will trick your skin into not producing oils, thinking it already has because your skin is moisturized! Hope that made sense, but basically no matter what your skin type you should use a moisturizer!
This is all I do in the morning!
This is where my skincare routine gets a little more complex. First I remove any makeup that I have worn throughout the day. To do this I use sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is light, natural oil that is wonderful at removing even waterproof makeup. I was skeptical in trying this, thinking that because it is an oil it would break me out, but it does not. It is extremely gentle and great for sensitive, young skin. After this I will cleanse my skin with my Cetaphil cleanser. I love this cleanser because it is so gentle and calms my skin. I use my Clarisonic Mia to apply the cleanser. Clarisonics are expensive, but honestly they are the key to keeping my skin clear and soft. However, there are alternatives to the Clarisonic. I know Olay makes a similar product. I only use my Clarisonic at night, any more is too rough for my skin. Tip: when you first use your Clarisonic or other device your skin will break out like crazy (this is called purging), however after a while your skin will be the best it has ever been. Pretty much what it does is all the blemishes or acne that could’ve formed is brought to the surface. Once you combat that then your skin will be lovely. Then, I will spray my face with my lush toner again and follow up with a spot treatment on any blemishes I have. I use the Kate Somerville Eradi-kate spot treatment. I like this because it isn’t a harsh spot treatment, like a lot of drugstore brands are, being its main ingredient is sulfur. However for a long time I used the clean and clear benzoyl peroxide treatment and loved that.
My night routine is extensive but once you have it down it only will take you five minutes and keeps your skin in fantastic shape.
Once a week
Once a week I do a face mask. I will boil some water in a basic pot. Then I will steam my face while putting a towel over my face to trap the steam. I do this for about ten minutes wash my face with warm water and apply a lush face mask. I do this whole process to get out all the gunk that is trapped in my pores and open the up for the face mask to settle into. I love lush face masks because they are effective, but gentle. However, Queen Helene makes a Mint Julep face mask that is nice. The catch with lush face masks is even though they are affordable they only last three weeks because they contain no preservatives so they spoil.
Wash my makeup brushes! Every week I wash my makeup brushes because the makeup brushes that you use on your face (foundation brush, blush, powder) trap acne forming bacteria. Wash them with shampoo and leave them out to dry. When you wake up, you will have clean makeup brushes!
If you have blemishes, that doesn’t mean you have acne. Acne is large blemishes covering all areas of your face. If you have a few blemishes on your forehead, cheeks, or nose then you don’t need to consider yourself having acne. So stay away from cleansers and skincare product that say acne in the title. Those are typically very harsh chemical cleansers that if you are using for a skincare concern you don’t have can end up breaking you out even more. However, if you do have acne, then use those products or see a dermatologist.
Non-comegenic! When searching for new skincare always remember this term. Non-comedenic means “Won’t clog pores”. This is great because it pretty much means that you won’t break out. It’s a way for the skincare company to sound fancy and trustworthy. I think a lot of teenagers love products that say “Oil-free”, but in reality oils are good for your skin. They can actually even help against breakouts. However, if a product does not say non-comedogenic or oil-free then be cautious. Breakouts form when oils are trapped (clogged) in your skin, so that combination tends to be bad.
Skincare definitely is an investment. I do have a lot of higher end products, but in reality all you need is a good moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment. This is what all these three-step systems consist of and the combination is extremely effective. This is my skincare routine, but everyone has different skin. This works for my skin, so if you want to purchase or sample (great way to try out these skincare products is to go to a department store, like Nordstrom, and ask a worker at a counter for a sample) these products consider your skin type before you try them out. If you do have my skin type though, I would recommend these products. Have a beautiful day,
(P.S. – I am not a dermatologist. Before you try any of these products I advise seeing a skincare expert- I am just a teenage girl and this works for me )
Colored jeans are a huge trend this spring and summer. We can see these practical accessories on the runway, celebrities, and on the street. The right pair can make an outfit fun and summery. In this post I will give you my tips and tricks on how to style and find your perfect pair of colored jeans!
1. Less is More
My first tip would be to think of your jeans as your main accessory. You don’t need a bunch of jewelry to make this piece fashionable. The right watch or necklace is really all that you need in order to look cute and be comfy.
2. Roll it up!
Next, cuff them! Folding the base of your jean will make this bold statement much more casual and summer appropriate.
3. Up Top
Don’t just worry about the jeans themselves. The right shirt will make your jeans pop and give you the look you are going for! Try a bright shirt in a different color if you are trying your hand at the color blocking trend, a neutral top, or a patterned top with a color scheme that ties in with your pants. DON’T: wear the same color shirt as your jeans. You will look like a walking crayon.
4. Find the right color! I love coral, but it just doesn’t look good on my skin tone, so when I get a pair of colored jeans I want a light aqua color pair. Meanwhile, Fiona totally pulls off this coral pair!
Here, I show how I would style colored jeans! I love how fun colored jeans are, but you can also make them very casual! This polyvore that I made shows you how you can style one pair of colored jeans so many different ways!
I love how in this video, Carly Cristman styles colored jeans! All of her suggestions I totally agree with. In general she has amazing style.
So that is how I would style colored jeans. Here I give some links to my favorite jeans in a variety of price ranges.
This is the pair Fiona is wearing in the photo! It comes in a ton of colors and is not too expensive:
This pair from jcrew is definitely expensive, but if you do have the money and would like to invest in a quality pair these are adorable:
If you are looking for a cute, inexpensive pair that will get you through the season then I love this pair from forever21. I like all the colors, but the yellow I am a little iffy on. However, I do this it could work with the right accessories and top!
Rompers are a great summer essential. From going to the beach or shopping around town, you can just slip on a romper and you’re good to go! You can dress them up or dress them down. They also make a great swim suit cover up! With this Romper, Fiona paired a light brown leather belt which brought out all of the colors in the romper.
Fashion at the Sea
It’s the first day of summer!! Now that the weather is clearing up, it’s time to start wearing those cute summer clothes you’ve been shopping for. We love this orange maxi dress from Nordstrom because it is so comfortable while still being fashionable! The color makes it fun so it is perfect to wear in the summer, while the length makes it appropriate for all sorts of events. All you need to accessorize is a cute belt and some plain colored sandals. If you want to dress it up a little more, try a necklace or some fun earrings!

One of my favorite trends this year is colored shorts! I love how they can really make an outfit pop. They are also really easy to style. You can pair them with so many different things! What I really love about colorful shorts is that they can cover a wide range of styles. They can be edgy, girly, casual, preppy, anything! They are definitely a must-have for the summer.
With some small additions of rips and graded coloring, colored shorts can look very edgy. Paired with a denim shirt or an edgy sweatshirt, you can make colored shorts look super cool. Black vans are simple but still cool and edgy. Converse are a classic street style shoe, and you can dress up your edgy look with a pair of bright heels.
Colored shorts are super cute paired with a loose, flowing tank top. In the summer, you can pair them with a girly crop top or a light shirt and then dress up your look by wearing heels. To get a more relaxed look that is still cute and girly, a pair of pink vans are a great way to go! Simple black flats also give a girly vibe.
In the summer, a casual look is great for the beach or just hanging out with your friends. Colored shorts look great paired with sandals and a simple t-shirt. You can wear a cute graphic tee that is both comfortable and casual. You can make your look more interesting with bejeweled sandals or shoes with a cool detail like feathers or beads. For a more comfortable outfit, Toms are the way to go.
One of my favorite styles has always been preppy. Colored shorts are great paired with a collared shirt, or even a cute sweatshirt with an interesting detail. Oxfords are a classic preppy shoe, so they instantly add that little something to your outfit. Black flats make an outfit cute, but still comfortable. A simple pair of heels will instantly give you a preppy vibe with a collared shirt.
Hi everyone:) Today, for my first post, I want to talk about one of my favorite types of shirts. I love shirts with an interesting back to them! Business in the front and party in the back anyone?😉 The backs to these shirts may be crocheted, lace or anything really. Some of them have full intricate backs while others have a small or simpler pattern.

What to Wear Underneath:
Bandeau: Bandeau’s are a strapless strip of fabric that covers the area over a girls chest. Below, I have a picture of a bandeau. The nice thing about bandeau’s is that you don’t have to wear a bra underneath at all depending on the type of bandeau! Some bandeaus even have padding or pushup instead of just plain cotton or some other fabric!
Bathing Suit: Bathing suits are great to wear under these shirts if you’re going to the beach or going swimming! This look appears super casual and effortless. Don’t wear a bathing suit underneath to school. Below is a picture of girl we met on the beach wearing the shirt perfectly!
Where to Find Them:
Where can you find these fabulous shirts? You can find them anywhere if you keep your eyes open! I have found multiple shirts like these at Forever 21 and especially Nordstroms in the past. Where can you find these fabulous bandeaus? You can find them at American Apparel, Pac Sun, Forever 21 and Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack. Currently, there are great bandeau’s on sale at Nordstrom Rack from around $5 to $15! For pushup bandeau’s, you can try Victoria’s Secret though they are expensive and their selection was small last time I checked. Bandeau’s can be slightly hard to find but they are worth it.
